Ms. Melinda Gutierrez

Welcome Back Hopkins Hawks! I'm Ms. Gutierrez and I am your Campus Social Worker. This will be my 5th year at Hopkins Elementary and I can't wait to get the new year started. I work closely with the campus Counselor and Administration to eliminate any barriers students, families, or staff may experience in order to ensure a successful school year.  Prior to Judson ISD, I worked as a Site Coordinator for Communities in Schools in Somerset ISD and have additional hospital Social Work experience as well.  I am a valley native and obtained my Bachelor of Social Work degree at the University of Texas Pan American (now UTRGV) in 2010 and then traveled here to San Antonio to obtain my Master of Social Work degree at the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2014, becoming a Licensed Master Social Worker in 2016.

I'm here to help so please do not hesitate to call or email me for assistance.

School social workers are the link between school, families and community in order to provide and coordinate services to students, families and staff to assist and help improve academic and social emotional success.  The school social worker collaborates with school administration and staff in forming mental health intervention, crisis management, and support services.  As part of the interdisciplinary team to help students succeed, school social workers facilitate community involvement in schools while advocating for student success.
